It was a very happy day indeed for three Golden Jubilarians – Sisters Mary Neylon from Ballylea, Co Clare, Teresa O’Connell from Castletownroche, Co Cork and Margaret Burke from Clonberne, Co Galway, on Saturday, 4 May.
The weather on the day may have been dull but that did in no way affect the excitement and enjoyment of the families, friends and Columban priests and Sisters gathered for the occasion. The Jubilee Mass was celebrated by Fr James Ruane, Co Galway, a relative of Sr Margaret’s, assisted by several priests, Columbans and Diocesan, and with two young altar servers. The Mass Homily was given by Sister Redempta Twomey in which she touched on many aspects of the mission journeys taken in different parts by the three Jubilarians; journeys spanning Korea, the Philippines and Peru.

During the Liturgy, the three Jubilarians renewed their Vows as Missionary Sisters of St Columban. And after being congratulated by all present it was down to the celebration lunch and the cutting of the cake…and continued chat and reminiscences. See below some more photos of the Golden Jubilee Day.
