+Sr Zita O’Loughlin -1986 – Mokpo, South Korea. Sister was the first Columban Sister to die and to be buried in Korea. The people of both Mokpo and Chunchon expressed the desire to have Sister buried in their respective cities. Mokpo, the place of her first assignment in Korea was the choice. Her grave is in the Catholic cemetery there.
Sister Mary Zita was a missionary of utter dedication and selfless service with a devoted love for the Korean people. She had a special gift for ministering to the terminally ill and consoled many of them with the message of God’s saving love. A serene and even-tempered woman, she radiated calm and assurance. Her motto was: Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Me.
