Columban Sisters in Solidarity with George Floyd.

Columban Sisters in Solidarity with George Floyd.

Remembering the tragic death of George Floyd on May 25, 2020, we, Columban Sisters are a group of missionary women religious who have been privileged to share in the search for truth, justice, love and peace in many vulnerable communities throughout the world. We wish to express our solidarity with the many peaceful protestors currently asking in the U.S. for an end to the culture of racism and for respect and dignity for all people whatever their race, colour or religion. Black lives matter, all lives matter.

We pray with the families of George Floyd and all victims of racism that their voices may be heard and that in that hearing they will be healed and a new and more just society may be born. We hope that in this time of a global pandemic we may all grow in awareness that we live as one people in one world and that we can only move forward if we move together. May God our common Father and Mother unite us, so that love and compassion will triumph over hatred and division, and community will triumph over chaos.

‘In God’s days justice shall flourish and peace till the moon fails.’ Psalm 71.
