Sr Rose Gallagher, SSC welcomed everybody before the Mass:
“On behalf of the sisters here in Magheramore, it is my great privilege to welcome you all… especially our Diamond and Golden Jubilarians
Catherine, Mary Mulcahy, Patricia, Mary Dillon, Mary Nolan, Abbie and Margaret Holleran.
and may the blessings of this day reach out to another of our Golden Jubilarians, Margaret Moran in Korea….
A warm welcome also to you, the families and friends of our Jubilarians….
to our Columban priest friends …and to our own sisters who travelled to be with us.
We are told that diamonds and gold…..
are gems that are sourced from ancient rock;
they are durable;
are polished by progressive abrasion;
or are lightly hammered to get the desired result!
God, the Master gem-cutter, in this case, has been fashioning and refining these gems –
our Sisters, over a combined 420 years of missionary service.
For all that God has done, during those many years, in and through our sisters, we give thanks now through the Eucharist…..
giving thanks too, for you, their families, who made it all possible.
Gratitude to our own Sr. Maura Lyden who is our homilist and to Fr. Pat, our resident chaplain, who will lead us in our liturgy together with our priest concelebrants:
Fr. Patrick Holleran – Sr. Margaret’s brother
Columban Fathers:
Pat Raleigh, Eugene Ryan, Gerry Neylon, Pat O’Donoghue and Paul Kenny.
As we begin our Mass, let us all join in the singing with full voice thanking God for the great, great blessings of this day.
