Once again it is my pleasure to write and thank all of you who supported this year’s Church Appeals in the Diocese of Cork and Ross.
It was a very big diocese, and of the 39 parishes assigned to us, we were able to visit 36.
An interesting aspect of this diocese was that many of the priests contacted had served for some years as missionaries in Peru, so there was a very warm welcome for the Columban Sisters.
The journey to Cork, week after week, was a long one and I particularly wish to thank those Sisters who generously gave of their time to visit all the parishes involved:
Margaret Burke, Anne Carbon, Kathleen Coyle, Sheila Crowe, Maureen Grant, Mary Greaney, Kathleen McGrath, Mary McHugh, Mary Nolan, Eileen Rabbitte.
Thanks is also due to all the Sisters (many in the Nursing Home) who remembered to pray for the success of this fund-raising effort and to Patricia McGuinness and Staff who prepared material and took care of the financial and banking arrangements.
And so, we all thank God for the people of Cork and Ross who responded so generously to our appeals. Their contribution of 90,425 euro indicates a truly missionary spirit, and for that, the Lord will surely reward them.
Sr. Elizabeth Doyle,SSC
