Lord, we ask you to receive our Sister Mary Genevieve into the eternal joy of your Kingdom. As she endeavoured to honour you during her life, so now allow her to taste the everlasting happiness which you promised to your faithful followers. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen
Words of welcome by Sr. Rose Gallagher during the Funeral Mass of Sr. Mary Genevieve Blanchfield:
Good morning everyone. On behalf of the sisters here in Magheramore it is my great privilege to welcome you all, and in particular, to welcome you, Sr. Genevieve’s family and friends who have come to say farewell…. farewell to dear “Pearly”…both beloved and lovely…
And indeed we are mindful this morning of Bess and Oscar who, together with Fr. Pat, and other family members, are closely united with usas we celebrate Genevieve’s life and her entry into Heaven.
Welcome also to our priest friends –
the Columban Fathers…
the Dominican Sisters….
our valued Staff members
and our own sisters who have travelled to be with us.
We turn now to the Eucharistic table to give thanks for Genevieve, a woman who discovered the ‘beatitude of littleness’ … and lived it with such disarming simplicity…in fidelity to Him whom her heart loved.
Dear and beloved Genevieve, we will miss your winsome ways and your warm humanity. May you rest in peace.
