Sister Colette Coleman, RIP.

Following a brief illness, Sister Colette Coleman passed away peacefully  at St. Columcille's Hospital Loughlinstown, Co. Dublin,  Ireland in the early morning of Wednesday February 11, 2004.
 

From Bantry Road,  Drumcondra, Dublin,  Mona Coleman (as she was then known) joined the Columban Sisters in 1955 and made First Profession of Vows in 1957.  During her lifetime she was assigned to  Labrador (Philippines),  London (England)  Dalgan Park (Ireland), Iquique (Chile) and East Kilbride (Scotland).

On Friday February 13, 2004 a large gathering of family, friends, priests and sisters paticipated in the Funeral Mass which was celebrated in the Columban Sisters'  Convent Chapel at Magheramore, Wicklow.  The Main Celebrant was Fr. Pat Donohoe,SSC,  (Chaplain to the Columban Sisters in Magheramore).
 
Present were Sister Colette's brother Richard and her sisters Irene, Bertha, Nuala and Paula (a Sister of St. Clare) and a large number of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins of Sister Colette.

 

 

The First Reading was read by Sister Redempta Twomey and the Second Reading was read by Mark Donovan (nephew of Sister Colette). Sister Mary Mortell sang the Responsorial Psalm.

The Homily was given by Sister Ita Hannaway
Nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews took part in the reading of the Petitions and in the presentation of the gifts during the  Offertory Procession.

After Communion  Niamh Crotty read a poem which she had composed for her Grand-Aunt Mona.

 
After Mass, the funeral procession took place to the convent cemetery where prayers were recited and hymns were sung as Sister Colette Coleman  was laid to her rest.
