Sister Camillus Lillis, R.I.P.

Sister Camillus Lillis passed away peacefully at 5.00 am on Tuesday, 23rd. September, 2003 in St. Columcille's Hospital, Loughlinstown, Co.  Dublin,  Ireland. With her at the time of her death was her only surviving family member, Sister Catherine, also a Columban Sister.

Born in Querrin, Co. Clare, Ireland  in 1918, Peggy Lillis joined the Columban Sisters in 1936  and was given the name Sister Camillus. She was assigned to the Philippines in 1940 where she spent over thirty years in missionary service.   

Since her return to Ireland from the Philippines Sister Camillus has been living in the community at the Motherhouse in Magheramore, Wicklow.  In the early years of her retirement she was involved with mission animation programmes in primary schools in Ireland. 



Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at St. Columban's  convent chapel 
in Magheramore,Wicklow 
on Thursday, 25th. September, 2003 
 

Sister Camillus is buried  in the convent cemetery.
