Sister Maureen Griffin Enters Eternal Life

Sister Maureen Griffin passed away peacefully in the Columban Sisters' Nursing Home at Magheramore, Wicklow, Ireland on May 31st,  2008.

 

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated  on Monday, June 2,  2008 at 11.30am. She is  buried in the convent cemetery.

Maureen Griffin was born in Ballybunion, Co. Kerry, Ireland on August 15, 1921.   She entered the congregation of the Columban Sisters in 1941 and was Finally Professed in 1946. On May 13, 1947, with four other Sisters, she travelled by boat to Burma where she spent many years on mission.  In 1973 she was assigned to Ozamiz,  Philippines and was missioned there until she was assigned back  to Ireland in 1979.   Following her return to Ireland she  led an active life in the community in Magheramore until, due to failing health she retired to the nursing home.  She will be remembered for her generosity, her gentleness and her kindness.
