A Joyful Afternoon at the Motherhouse

The date on which the committee and helpers of our annual Sale of Work and nearby benefactors come to Magheramore, our Motherhouse, is always specially marked early in the year on the community calendar, and always anticipated with happiness. Saturday, May 23 saw our friends arrive on a sunny afternoon. Small group by small group they came and were soon in lively conversation with one another as they awaited the time when Mass would be offered for the deceased members of the Sale of Work committee and helpers.

Father Pat Donohoe, our community chaplain, celebrated the Eucharist. Readers and a minister of the Eucharist came from amongst our visitors while all joined with the community choir in singing the chosen hymns. The sun was still shining as our evening meal ended and the distribution of gift packages had left many surprised and happy. Those who wished took the opportunity of walking in our grounds and visiting the cemetery to pray for friends before saying good-bye.

It was another day to remember, another homecoming of our cherished co-missionaries for which to be very grateful.
