Sunshine had triumphed over rain by the time all guests had gathered in Magheramore, Wicklow, Ireland on April 25, 2009 to participate in the celebration of Sisters Julie Dowling’s and Brigid Kingston’s Golden Jubilees. Immediate family members, nieces and nephews, some with their small children, had come from as far away as Ardagh in Limerick where Sister Julie was born, and Clonakilty in West Cork, Sister Brigid's place of birth. Other relatives had made shorter journeys for the occasion. Despite long hours on the road their faces reflected happiness to equal the brightness of the sun outside; they were glad to be part of the joy that was evident in the house upon their arrival. |

The day began with Mass of Thanksgiving offered for the jubilarians by Rev. William Kingston, CSSp, Sister Brigid’s brother, assisted by Rev. Pat Donohoe, SSC, chaplain to the community in Magheramore. |

After the Eucharistic celebration joy reigned throughout the day. During the meal in which all participated, memories were exchanged, stories told and laughter filled the air while the very young children enjoyed themselves exploring inviting areas of the house. The sunny afternoon called many out of doors for walks, for renewing and reviewing news of one another and, in general, for simply being glad of being with one another for such a joyous occasion. |

The afternoon was well advanced by the time the last guests departed and Sisters Julie and Brigid had opportunity of some quiet time for themselves. We wish them every blessing as they take the missionary road before them into the future. |
