On April 4, 2005, Louise Ryan joined the formation programme of the Columban Sisters in Lima, Perú.

Louise, who was born in Ireland,  grew up and was educated in Dubai where her parents worked.  She returned to Ireland where she studied physiotherapy in Belfast and then worked in Portlaoise Hospital.  During this time she was a member of the Viatores Christi Lay Missionary Movement.
 

Louise went to Perú in September, 2004.   There she studied Spanish while she was also involved in missionary work with  people with physical disabilities.

In March 2005  Louise began classes in the formation institute in Lima. She will continue to  be involved in work with people with physical disabilities as she further  deepens her understanding of God's call in her life
