Celebrations on the Silver Jubilee of the Archdioceses of Ozamiz, Philippines

The Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Ozamiz City, Philippines. having been recently renovated, was dedicated on April 10, 2008.  There was a program of activities to celebrate the occasion.

The Silver Jubilee of six diocesan priests coincided with that of the Archdioceses: Frs. Pablo Arcaba, Arnold Daplin, Edgar Calog, Zacky Montefalcon, Jimmy Villamor and Edito Mascardo. Their Mass of Thanksgiving was at 5.00pm on April 7, 2008.  The Serra Club of Ozamiz sponsored their celebration.  The Basic Ecclesial Communities and other sectors and groups in the parish each had their day of celebrations

On April 10 the ceremony of Dedication of the Cathedral was at 8.00am followed by Mass.  After the Communion four people were given the award Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice:  Fr Miguel S. Bernad, S.J. for his writings on Culture and Religion in the Mindanao Church, especially the parish of Ozamiz,  Sr Regina Bernad,  Columban Sister,  for her service in the local Church to the elderly and psychologically  and physically ill,  Sr Violeta Navarro for the service of the Sisters in her congregation in the different parishes, Mr. Jose Manalastas for his work with Ozamiz  ex-patriots in the U.S.A. and their contribution to the Ozamiz Church.

Archbishop Dosado awarded the Diplomas and the diocesan awards.   Their sisters, Ms. Prospera Bernad and Sr. Teresita Bernad pinned the medals on Fr. Miguel and Sister Regina.
