Columban Sisters Lay Associates’ Medical Mission

Sunday, March 11, 2007

San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines

The day was started with an opening prayer led by one of the Lay Associates after which the mission began. One hundred and sixty  very poor, sick and malnourished children were checked and examined by our Alumni doctors. The much needed medicine by these children was given to them.

Seventy  poor adults received dental attention offered by ten volunteer dentists who also came to our place to offer their day’s service. Many of these people  cannot afford to pay even the minimal dental fee. So it was indeed for them a great help being availed of during this Medical Mission.

It was a very pleasant sunny day. The doctors, the Lay Associates and a few Malate Catholic School alumni were exhausted after the day’s work but all were very grateful and happy with the little service they had offered to the poor and needy of San Juan.
