Vigil For Truth and Reconciliation in Lima, Peru.

Crowds gathered carrying photos of the dead or disappeared, artifacts and  articles of clothing, baloons, flowers and candles - "an x-ray of the truth" as one banner put it.
In the silence of the night, names of the dead and missing were called forth, receiving an immediate response of "present" from a friend, a relative or a neighbour.
.
The vigil ended with the reading of a statement signed by thousands of people from around the country, calling for an authentic reconciliation, and a new way of life based on Truth, Solidarity and Peace from which no one will be excluded.

One participant describes it as  'A most profound moment of Remembering - a vigil never to be forgotten.'.
