Intercultural Workshop in Lima

For three days during the week of October 20, the Columban Sisters in Peru were able to attend an intercultural workshop directed by Fr.Frank Hoare,SSC.  The event took place in a retreat house in Chaclacayo, an area to the east of Lima where there are many retreat houses.

Columban Sisters missioned in Peru.

The Sisters were  fortunate to have in their group  in Peru sisters from five different cultures (Peruvian, Filipino, Korean, Canadian and Irish) so this was a very enriching experience for all.  During the workshop time was  spent tgetting in touch with the different cultural values, sharing in small and large intercultural groups. They  also got input on the differences between individualistic and group centered societies and examined the effects of high and low power cultures in personal interaction.

Each day began with prayer prepared by the various communities and ended with Mass in the evening celebrated by Fr. Frank.

After supper there was time for recreation and on the final evening there was  a party, enriched by songs and jokes from different cultures and lively dancing.  .
