The three jubilarians keep singing as they process out after the Mass. And right, Sister Mary and her brother, Fr Donal, take the opportunity to catch a special shot for the album
On July 28, 2012, three Columban Sisters gathered in the Convent Chapel in Magheramore, Wicklow, to celebrate their Golden Jubilee. They were Sr. Mary Moylan, who had worked for many years in the Philippines, Sr. Monica Kelly whose mission was Korea and Sr. Mary O’Dea who spent many years in the United States before being assigned to Peru.
Surrounded by the sisters and their families, the day began with Mass celebrated by Fr. Donal O’Dea, SSC, brother of Sister Mary O’Dea. Present also for the occasion were Fr. Pat Donohue, SSC, the community Chaplain, Fr. Nicholas Madden ODC, Fr. Michael Casey SDB, and four Columban Fathers: Michael Sinnott, Colm McKeating, Frankie O’Kelly and Joe Flanagan.
The Homily was given by Sr. Redempta Toomey who wove together the Readings of the Mass and the mottos of the three Jubilarians to paint a picture of God’s faithfulness in the lives of three women who 50 years previously had offered themselves to God as missionary sisters.
After Mass lunch was served to all present and afterwards there was time to enjoy each other’s company in the beautiful surroundings of Magheramore.
The concelebrants process out and below, the community seize the moment to express their congratulations to Mary Moylan and Monica
